A once pristine, tropical island is being destroyed by the endless flow of garbage thrown into streams and rivers. So much has piled up it has created Trash Mountain, an ugly, towering mound of trash dominating the landscape. And beneath it, dangerous spirits, once trapped by the Earth’s protective barrier, a barrier now weakened by growing piles of waste, are beginning to stir. But many scavenge near Trash Mountain, including Budi, a local boy. Annoyingly, what for Budi is a means of survival, Cassie, a foreign girl living on the island, sees as an adventure. And today, there’s a real prize: an antique lamp racing along the stream that washes up on Trash Mountain… Distracted by the lamp, the warring children don’t realise that a dark spirt it has broken through and is now using the garbage to form a new body. A monster is being created by the selfish, neglectful waste generated by humans, and the prized lamp would make the creature a perfect eye!
